Duracell Battery Chargers utilize a microprocessor-controlled three-stage charging method which significantly extends the battery life. Multistage charging ensures that batteries receive optimum charging with minimal wear and tear by regulating the voltage and current delivered to the batteries in three automatic stages: Bulk, Absorption and Float. The bulk charging stage replaces 70-80% of the battery's state of charge at the fastest possible rate. After that the absorption charging stage replenishes the remaining 20-30% of charge, bringing the battery to a full charge at a slow, safe rate. Finally, at the float charging stage, the voltage is reduced and held constant in order to prevent damage and keep batteries at full charge.
